Attractions in Palma de Mallorca

Palacio Almudaina is the landmark of Palma de Mallorca. This is one of the oldest palaces in Spain. It is now frequented by the Spanish royal family. You can go inside the Almudaina Palace for a ticket price of 7€. It is probably the most photographed place on the island and there are always tourists. The Gothic style chapel is fascinating. Nearby are the Royal Gardens with tropical greenery and fountains.

The cathedral, a landmark of Palma de Mallorca, can be seen from afar from the promenade. Nearby we discovered a lake with swans.

Mallorca’s Gothic cathedral has been under construction for almost 300 years. And it has to be said, it is impressive. The cathedral is adorned with the largest “gothic eye” in the world.

We took a ride on a horse for 50 euros and went around all the streets and saw everything.

The old town of Palma de Mallorca is very ascetic. The narrow streets, shops, and old houses create an unmistakable atmosphere. The houses are painted in different colours. Each house is unique, with colorful shutters, Moorish and Italian-style balconies, sculptures, and flowers.

The streets weave into the Plaza Mayor, where there are many cafés and always a lot of tourists. The prices in the cafes are also for tourists. Lunch will cost 30-50 euros.

The streets of Palma de Mallorca are decorated with colored graffiti, colorful cars, just a riot of colors.

The promenade in Palma de Mallorca is a major tourist attraction. The bay itself is very beautiful and large (20 km), with luxury yachts and chic beachside cafés. The glamorous cafes are white, like the colour of the yachts.

You can go down on the rocks to the sea, but it’s not super swimmy – it’s a big city, after all. For a beach holiday, you’ll need to head away from the centre of Palma de Mallorca. But the port doesn’t stop those who want to cool off – people take a dip in the water. Nearby, children climb into the water and for some reason beg for money from tourists.

Large cruise ships arrive in Palma de Mallorca, bringing crowds of tourists in the morning and taking them away in the evening. But when darkness falls, Palma de Mallorca does not fall asleep and the most glamorous clubs on the island open here. So even from other resorts, tourists are drawn to the clubs in Palma de Mallorca. You can even buy a ticket to the club together with a transfer at the travel agencies. And tourists are brought not by small minibuses, but by huge buses.

Another landmark of Palma de Mallorca is the Parque de la Mar.

A short walk away from the Almudaina Palace and Mallorca Cathedral reveals the promenade, harbour and market building. It too is Gothic in style and adorned with gargoyles. Nearby is the famous inscription “PALMA”. It’s impossible to pass by without taking a picture.

Shopping in Palma de Mallorca

The shops for tourists in the centre are numerous. You can buy souvenirs, books, jewellery and brand-name clothes. You can buy everything from magnets to clothes with the “Mallorka” label.

My review of Palma de Mallorca

You can have a great holiday in Palma de Mallorca. The sea, the white-washed beaches, and the centuries-old architecture all come together in one place. Every street in Palma de Mallorca is filled with the spirit of the past. It is beautiful, clean and civilised.

The Spanish are nice friendly people, but unfortunately hardly anyone speaks English. But the rest in Palma de Mallorca in Spain will not affect it – the staff of hotels and restaurants speak excellent English.

Now you know about Palma de Mallorca, where the resort is located and how to get there, the sights of Palma de Mallorca in Spain, prices and features.
