How to get from Alicante Airport to city centre, Benidorm or Calp by bus

Alicante Airport is a connecting transport hub in the south of Spain. It is accessible by domestic flights in Spain or if you are flying on a low-cost airline. The airport is mainly tourist-oriented and serves charter airlines and low-cost carriers. Located between Alicante and Calpe, the airport is less than 100km from the cities of Murcia and Valencia. Where is Alicante Airport

Alicante Airport is situated on Spain’s Costa Blanca, on the south west of the city. Alicante airport is easily accessible by car and is signposted on the A-7 and AP-7. Alicante airport has been redeveloped in 2011, with the replacement of Terminals 1 and 2 by a new, modern Terminal H. Alicante Airport (airport code ALC) is currently the sixth largest airport in Spain, after Madrid, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Malaga and Gran Canaria.

What is the distance from Alicante airport to the city centre of Alicante and Benidorm

Alicante Airport is located in the city of Elche. The distance to the centre of Calpe is 11 kilometres. The journey by transport usually takes 20 minutes. The distance to Benidorm is 58 km, journey time is 40 minutes.

How to get from Alicante airport by bus to Alicante, Benidorm and Calpe

There are buses to Alicante, Benidorm, Calpe, Elche and Murcia and other cities on the Costa Blanca. The public bus stop is located at the very end of the terminal building, on the departure floor.

How to get to Alicante by bus

Subús Route C-6 is a bus service between Alicante Airport (Elche) and the city of Alicante. Buses are modern and air-conditioned. Bus drivers do not speak English, so any questions you may have must be answered by yourself. Departures from Alicante airport are every 20 minutes. The stop is after the departure lounge on the first floor. The journey time from Alicante Airport to the bus stop “Plaza Puerta del Mar” in the city centre is 25 minutes.

From here, take the tram to the Playa del Postiguet beach (line 4). The first stop is “Loring, Estación de Autobuses” if you want to get to the bus or train station in Alicante. The next stop is “Vázquez de Mella, Estación Marq – Castillo” if you want to catch the tram.

From here, take the 1 hour train to Benidorm and then catch the tram to Altea, Calpe and Denia on the Costa Blanca. Tickets will be sold to the driver and cost €3.85 per person. You can buy a 10-ride ticket for €12.00 + €2.00 (card deposit). If you are travelling together with several people it is cheaper to pay with one ticket (you get about 3 times the price as if you were travelling alone).

How to get to Benidorm and Calpe by bus

Buses run every hour from Alicante airport to Benidorm. The bus takes 45 to 50 minutes to reach the popular resort of Benidorm. The bus terminus is Benidorm Bus Station. Tickets can be purchased online or from the bus driver. Alternatively, Alsa offers a bus service to Calpe, a journey time of 1.5 hours. Direct buses to Calpe don’t run very often, so it’s best to check the timetable on the official website. The fares for adults are €9.45 (round trip €17.95), for children aged 4-11 €6.60 (round trip €13.20).

Taxi fares to Alicante and Benidorm

There are 2 taxi stands at Alicante airport: after the arrival hall at ground floor and at the entrance to the departure hall on the 2nd floor. A taxi to Alicante costs around €20, and to Benidorm around €70. You can also book a taxi from Alicante Airport online.

Accessing the city by hire car

If you are travelling around Spain on your own, you can rent a car at Alicante airport. Car rental companies can be found on the right side of the arrival hall. Avis, Centauro, Europcar, Goldcar, Hertz, Enterprise, Budget, Sixt and Record Go all operate here.
